Karin-Yosok Park is an artist, educator and creator of a unique method for learning Korean through singing. Adopted from Seoul, Korea to Sweden, she has lived and worked in Stockholm, Barcelona and Vienna as an adult. When her three own children began to take an interest in their Korean roots, Karin-Yosok realized that singing — with its rhythm, emotion and repetition — is an unexpectedly effective way into the language.
The lack of creative and culturally rooted tools for learning Korean led her to develop her groundbreaking method in 2005, where language, music and identity are woven together. Her songbooks have since helped both children and adults approach Korean in a way that is enjoyable, memorable and pedagogically rooted. In parallel with her work as a language innovator, Karin-Yosok is active as an artist with a degree from the Idun Lovén School of Art in Stockholm and a bachelor's degree in theater/film studies from Stockholm University. In addition, she holds a master's degree in painting from the University of Applied Arts (Die Angewandte) in Vienna, Austria. There she works as an artist and teaches Cracking the Image Code - learning to draw with an innovative method.
Her art, like her pedagogy, is characterized by a deep humanistic commitment and a desire to build bridges between languages, people and cultures.

I want to open doors to worlds where the impossible is not only possible—it is logical. With imagination and unexpected twists and turns, I create stories that challenge our conventional ways of thinking. My books are intended for children of all ages, as well as curious adults, inviting readers to think in new ways and always think with their hearts. What happens when you get an elephant for your birthday? Or when a five-year-old discovers he has superpowers? In my world, imagination is not just play—it is a tool for developing empathy, understanding, and intellectual curiosity.
In my daily life, I divide my time between working as a nurse and being a mother to two now almost grown-up children. In both roles, there is a deep concern for people and their sometimes hidden abilities. Through my writing, I want to bring these abilities to life in a way that is playful, thought-provoking, and full of warmth.
I wrote to my children when they were little. Now, 20 years later, I have been persuaded to publish them for a wider audience, in the hope that they will bring as much joy, create exciting reactions, and inspire fun discussions, now as they did then.
